Tools for the New Global Marketplace

Innovative Web-based initiatives from NYSE Euronext are taking communication and valuation to the next level.

Beyond the Bell

Get NYSE Connected

Executives of NYSE-listed companies now have a private, online social community to call their own. Launched in June, NYSE Connect is a collaborative forum that brings professionals together to communicate and exchange ideas.

“We’re creating a community for members to interact with others among the NYSE family of great companies, to share ideas about the environment in which we all operate,” says Duncan Niederauer, NYSE Euronext (NYX) CEO. He adds that the site — which has partnered with Eurasia Group, Ipreo, Medley Research, Financial Dynamics and others — is the first of its kind among the major exchanges.

— Duncan Niederauer, NYSE Euronext CEO

NYSE Connect features Web-based events and other content on topics such as market trends, regulations and best practices. While the NYSE already provides its clients with the market sector intelligence data at the macro level, NYSE Connect goes one step further, says Niederauer, offering opportunities to meet and talk with peers. Members can create a profile and use the search tool to find and add contacts, and the site includes polls, Webcasts and live chat sessions. Matthew Stroud, vice president of investor relations for Darden Restaurants Inc. (DRI), says he uses the quick polls and surveys to learn what his peers think. “I want to take advantage of the services the NYSE offers because it is important to stay connected to the NYSE community,” he explains. One-Stop Valuation Shop

With growing market and regulatory demand for independent valuation, NYSE Euronext (NYX) launched Prime Source Ltd., a global Web-based service (nyxprimesource.com) for the valuation of large, multi-asset-class portfolios. Prime Source aggregates information from various sources, including quoted market prices, contributed prices from the sell side, and internally developed valuation models, says CEO Marie-Hélène Crétu, NYSE Euronext’s Paris-based director of fixed income. The result is “a comprehensive, single-view, neutral answer to users’ valuation and regulatory requirements,” she says. “Prime Source provides people with the information they need to make educated decisions.”

Prime Source, a wholly owned NYSE Euronext subsidiary, can evaluate cash and derivatives instruments across many asset classes and products, with the integration of new technologies continuing to expand its reach. “This really is a one-stop shop,” says Crétu. Valuations are available daily, weekly, monthly or on-demand, and users can count on a secure compliance and audit trail. “Our customers have open access to the data, calculations and rationale used to generate valuations,” she adds. “We are about complete transparency.” — Jeff Heilman

Host your event at the NYSE

During a live and silent auction on the trading floor, NYSE Euronext (NYX) helped raise more than $475,000 at the 2009 Auction4Kids for Comp2Kids, a program of Per Scholas, which provides personal computers to middle school students in New York City.

The NYSE hosts cocktail receptions, dinners, analyst and investor meetings, product launches and more. For information on having your corporate event at the NYSE, contact CorporateEvents@nyx.com.
