Data for Home Hunters
Trulia offers a comprehensive picture of your next neighborhood.
Devoted to helping consumers rent or buy a new home, Trulia Inc. (NYSE: TRLA) says it is making the search easier with its comprehensive statistics-crunching Website and mobile apps. “The M.O. for most real estate sites is to throw a bunch of data on a page and let people sift through it,” says Lee Clancy, Trulia’s vice president of consumer products. The majority simply post photos of homes on the market and links to neighborhood data, he notes. “We felt there had to be a better way — something that enhances the home shopping process.”
Trulia’s answer lies in its interactive “inside scoop” mapping technology, which lets consumers search for new homes based on the criteria that matter most to them.
Users nationwide can select filters to view statistics on crime, school quality and commute times, for example, the results of which are mapped alongside the typical listing details and price information. “All of our technology is designed to provide consumers with rich visualizations of key data, making the information more easily consumable and compelling,” Clancy explains.Click on the image above for a look at how Trulia collects its rich data and is continually working to improve the user experience.
